Honoring America's farmers and promoting farm safety

A tribute to an Indiana farmer killed in a grain bin accident was the inspiration for a contest to recognize those for whom agriculture is a way of life.

The story behind the Favorite Farmer contest

The "Favorite Farmer Video Contest" was established to honor Roger Cain and other American farmers - and to help promote farm safety.

On January 13, 2016, farmer Roger Cain of Rushville, IN died after becoming trapped in a grain bin.

Following his death, Cain’s daughters created a video, Our Favorite Farmer - Roger Cain, to celebrate the memory of their father and his love for agriculture.

The girls sent the video to the AgChat Foundation and asked that it be shared in the hope that similar accidents could be avoided.

Nominate your Favorite Farmer

To enter the contest, create a 1½ to 2-minute video with audio that conveys your Favorite Farmer's love for farming, commitment to farm safety, advocacy for agriculture and generosity to others. Entries will be accepted October 15, 2016 through April 15, 2017.

The first-place winner will be featured on an episode of RFD-TV's highly rated TV show, Small Town Big Deal. More great prizes will be awarded to second place and multiple third place winners.
